Tree Protection for Summer St. Parkade project, Halifax:

1

Environova’s main project has been the carry-over work from 2002 to save the vandalized trees at the Halifax Public Gardens. Consulting Arborist Stan Kochanoff was commissioned to do an assessment and assist the Public Gardens staff in cleaning up wounds of some 27 to 30 trees that were vandalized in the park late last summer. Most of the bark tracing was completed last summer and some bridge grating was completed last fall

As of May 1, 2023, Stan has been working with HRM’s Public Gardens manager, Sean Street preparing and bridge grafting the 13 worst girdled trees.

Below are Photos from May 2023. The results of the bridge grafting won’t be known until the summer of 2023 or the spring of 2024.
